Ship docked in a cargo terminal and Princess provided free shuttle service to the cruise terminal for those passengers not part of an excursion. Entire party has to meet at Michelangelo dining room to get a number for the shuttle. You have to take the shuttle to the cruise terminal - there is no option to leave the port on your own. From the terminal, you can take taxis which we did to Den Gamle By. We tried to buy bus tickets at the terminal but was told that it would be cheaper for a group of 5 to take a taxi. The taxi cost 96 DKK which was about the same as the bus but we didn't have to wait.
After Den Gamle By, we walked about 500m to the ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum museum which we passed by on the way. However, after walking up a long ramp, we discovered the museum is closed on Mondays. We walked down a couple more blocks hoping to find something interesting to see and were lucky to discover Søndergade, which is the Strøget of Aarhus. We strolled down the street and went down to the canal and stopped at Cafe Faust for a glass of beer. My 13-year old son had his first glass of beer (non-alcoholic of course).
